Pull Galaxy — the cosy effect on large needles

Designed in our workshops, the Pull Galaxy is a maxi-comfort winter piece, knitted on large n°12 needles for a voluminous look and a project that grows fast. Its roomy silhouette, its graphic V-neck and its play of opaline, white and green stripes make it a jumper that is both modern and warm, to wear over jeans or leggings for an unapologetically cocoon style.

Three strands for a soft drape

The jumper is knitted in 3 strands held together of the Pretoria quality, creating a thick, downy roving with a nicely rounded stitch. The play of colours (6 balls of opaline as the main colour, 3 white, 3 green) makes up a precise stripe sequence that brings the back and front to life, continuing on the sleeves with its own variation.

The technical detail: the V-neck cable

To stop the point of the V-neck stretching under the weight of the knitting, the front includes a central 6-stitch cable on row 31, just before the division for the neckline. A construction trick that holds the shape over time and adds a decorative detail at the heart of the piece. The V decreases are then worked 2 stitches from the edge, by ssk on the right and k2tog on the left, for a clean line.

Composition and materials

  • Yarn: Pretoria — 12 balls in total (6 opaline + 3 white + 3 green)
  • Needles: n°12
  • Accessories: 1 cable needle, stitch markers, tapestry needle

Size

One size, roomy and enveloping cut.

Tension

  • Stocking stitch (held 3-strand): 8 sts × 10 rows = 10 × 10 cm (n°12 needles)

Level and duration

Intermediate level. The large needles make the project quick to knit, but the jumper calls for comfortable handling of rib, stocking stitch, changing colour in stripes, a simple cable and the V-neck decreases. An excellent piece for those wanting a spectacular result in little time.

The pattern free with your yarn

The Baudilaine pattern leaflet (detailed instructions and the complete stripe sequence) is given to you, printed by hand, with the purchase of the 12 balls of Pretoria needed. A creation by Baudilaine, your knitting yarn merchant since 1988.
